ESG/Legal Advisor

Mateus Almeida holds a bachelor's degree in Law from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and has been a member of the Brazilian Bar Association since 2009. He took his master's degree in Environmental Studies from Victoria University of Wellington, where he also interned at the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA). As a legal advisor, he previously worked at the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO) and at the environmental law unit of the attorney’s office of the Environmental Institute of Rio de Janeiro (Inea). At the Land Innovation Fund, Mateus is responsible for legal assistance in updating the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework and in developing tools and methods to monitor compliance, analyze risk, and assess the environmental impact of projects supported by the Fund. He also provides ad hoc legal advice to the Fund's staff and is its liaison with outside legal counsel.
