Developing an on-farm biofactory in the Cerrado
BioUs uses agricultural waste to produce bioinoculants and biofertilizers to improve soil fertility and promote plant growth, increasing crop tolerance to climate change. Participation in the PSSC will allow BioUs to consolidate its biotechnology in biofactories scaled to small and medium farmers through partnerships with agricultural associations and cooperatives.
The startup's objective is to achieve a circular bioeconomy with an On-Farm Biofactory model, validate the treatment of waste material on farms and agro-industries, and generate two bioproducts for the soy production chain. The project also aims to evaluate the physical, chemical and microbiological aspects of the soil, capture and reuse organic waste from the farm itself, prepare the soil with biochar fertilization and generate a formula for carbon capture. The resultis expected to be the recovery of up to 20% of the soil's biodiversity, a 15% reduction in the use of chemical inputsand the reuse of up to 50% of the organic waste present on the farm.
